Judge Approves Lease For Rothbury 2009

We’ve all been waiting on pins and needles, but finally today the lease between AEG Live (the festival promoters) and the bank trustee has been approved by a Grand Rapids judge. For those of you who don’t know, this was the biggest obstacle in the way of Rothbury 2009 happening. Once the Oceana Township Board approves the 2009 Rothbury Music Festival, and once they secure they proper land permits, it will be all good to go. But these last 2 things should be a breeze, and I’m sure we’ll have a lineup and some news before long. Either way, stay tuned to Michigan Music Blog for all of your Rothbury 2009 News!

It appears a lease has been signed for the promoters to continue with the Rothbury Festival 2009 at the Double JJ Resort, and there will be an emergency court hearing today. If all goes as planned, the judge should approve the signing and it won’t be long now before we’re all back at the ranch! Some Rothbury 2009 Rumors include Tom Petty, The Dead, Phish, and several more…stay tuned for any more news as soon as we hear it!

Phish To Headline Bonnaroo?

Well it doesn’t necessarily have to do with Michigan, but it is huge news in the music world – according to Rolling Stone magazine, sources close to the band Phish say that they will be playing in 2009 at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival on the farm in Manchester, Tennessee. Many have been doubtful that Phish would play a music festival as they have been known in the past for hosting their very own multi-day fests, but with the recent announcement of a reunion tour in the works, this rumor may finally come to a reality in June of 2009. We’ll just have to wait and see…

Show Cancellation Notice

Published by The Webmaster under Live Shows Edit This

Well if you were planning on attending the Jagermeister tour featuring Hinder, Trapt and Rev Theory at The Orbit Room on Wednesday, December 17 – don’t bother showing up. Ticket refunds are available at the point of purchase.

For the life of me, I can’t seem to find out a reason why this concert has been cancelled, if anybody knows the reason please feel free to leave a comment here. My only guess however is that the cancellation is due to poor ticket sales in and around Grand Rapids, especially since they haven’t cancelled their December 19 Jagermeister tour date at Clutch Cargo’s in Pontiac, Michigan.

The first of what is sure to be many great, huge New Year’s Eve shows in Michigan has been announced – this one is at the Orbit Room at Grand Rapids. Featuring heavy metal headliner Clutch, along with Russian Circles and Viking Skull, this is going to be a great way to ring in the New Year. Remember, this is a 17+ show, so make sure to find a babysitter! Tickets are $34, and can be purchased through TicketMaster or at the Orbit Room box office (with no additional fees – depending on how close you are, it may be worth driving a little farther to avoid the service charges from TicketMaster).

Concerts At The Deltaplex

Published by The Webmaster under Live Shows Edit This

There is a lot of stuff going on at the Deltaplex – conventions, trade shows, auctions, motocross, boxing matches, arena racing – you name it, you can probably find it somewhere within the Deltaplex’s busy, busy schedule. However, once in a while they manage to squeeze in a few live concerts, too.

November 18: Avenged Sevenfold with guests Buckcherry, Shinedown and Saving Abel / Tickets are $35 and are available at all TicketMaster outlets or by visiting www.TicketMaster.com

Like I said there aren’t a lot of shows happening at the Deltaplex, but it is a quality venue and when they do get shows, they are usually pretty good. Don’t let this one pass you by!

DTE Energy Music Theatre, formerly Pine Knob has some good upcoming shows from their own little part of the state in Clarkston, Michigan. 8/24 Cheech & Chong…

Published by The Webmaster under Live Shows Edit This

The Cheech & Chong Light Up America Reunion Tour is coming to The Filmore in Detroit (formerly the State Theatre)…How in the world did I not hear of this reunion tour AT ALL until today? And they are coming to Detroit – to play 2 Saturday shows no less! In less than a month even!! I can’t believe it. It sponsored by LiveNation, and while I can’t stand LiveNation, it’s kind of hard not to go to a show that isn’t sponsored by them in one way or another. Tickets range in price from $29.50, $39.50 or $59.50. I know this isn’t necessarily music, I’m excited for it anyway – and I’m sure they’ll play a couple of their hit songs, as well.
